The Only Way is Essex – Pubs, Hen Nights, Live Music & More!

Essex

Hello fellow bloggers!

Yet again I have been AWOL a fair while – this time owing to a combination of work and the dreaded summerholigeddon (2 weeks down, 3 and a half to go!). However I thought I would pop on and share with you one of my ongoing jobs that I am absolutely loving at the moment!

A while back now I started a contract providing blog posts for a website called iHeartEssex which is all about, yep you guessed it – Essex (UK for any of my readers across the puddle or the pond!). Its a fantastic website which looks at all of the best social aspects of life in Essex including the best pubs, clubs, restaurants, events, live music venues and more.

With the popularity of a reality TV show known as TOWIE (The Only Way Is Essex) we also decided to focus on how to do a girls night out TOWIE style by visiting some of the salons, restaurants and clubs featured in the show. This blog post has been way popular so I thought I would share that, and a couple of the others, here with you. If you want to give them a sneaky share yourself then that would be awesome too 😉

Hopefully once the gruesome twosome are back to school then I can get back to my regularly scheduled programming!

Thanks for stopping by!

Freelancer Life!

I have realised I have been completely neglecting my blog lately, but I promise you it is for a good reason! Since I officially made Freelance Writing my full time career (ok, well not quite full time, but with a house to run and a husband and two kids to look after there doesn’t appear to be much time that I’m not running around like a headless chicken!), life has been even more manic than usual. Don’t get me wrong, I am supremely grateful that I have a job that allows me to sit in my pjs with my hair a mess and no-one knows. I am grateful that I don’t have a horrible commute. I am beyond grateful that I don’t have to get involved in office politics and can be my own boss.

But DAMN, no one tells you how hard this whole “setting up a business” malarkey really is! There is loads of paperwork, loads of things to set up…. and no one pays you for all that! Not to mention the actual work, which is coming in thick and fast. I took on a new client this week that I am very excited to be working with, and they will require two pieces of work each week. On top of my “regulars”! I am also currently working on an eBook for one of my long-term clients, which is a huge HUGE project. I have written nearly 8000 words for that this week alone!

I am currently in the process of sorting out my new website, which I am very excited about. It’s just taking a little longer than I expected, in part because I am a wee bit of a technophone, and also because I am just struggling for the time to do it! Fear not, I will post links up to it when I have finished.

In the meantime, I thought I would share links to my latest published pieces on SoundBodyLife and Feedmybaby

I have also written an article about an awesome product called the Wacom Inkling – an ink to digital pen!

Hope you enjoy them!

I really hope to get back to my regularly scheduled blogging really soon! Be good without me!

Things I love about my job #1

So I decided to start blogging about things that I love about my job, seeing as it’s taking up most of my blogging time these days!

So I start today with

Things that I love about my job #1

GREAT FEEDBACK!!

I know it’s kind of an obvious one, but I have had some brilliant feedback in the last few weeks. It really does make the job worthwhile, especially if it was a particularly hard article to write, or something new that I had to get to grips with!

I completed a job for a new client at the start of the week, and the feedback came today… I took a photo of the laptop screen so please excuse the poor quality

It was an article that was for a genre slightly outside my comfort zone, so I am so pleased they were happy with it!

So there you have it, the very first thing that I enjoy about my job!

My latest project available for FREE download – check it out!

Hello my lovelies and welcome to my shameless plugging blog post!

I’m sorry I haven’t been around as much as usual, but I have been busy working for a new team – the amazing guys at http://www.soundbodylife.com

One of the projects we have been working on is the eBook “The Everything Essential Oils Guide”.

It is currently available for FREE  for a very limited time (until 13th March) on Amazon!!!

I will be quite honestly, I had absolutely no idea how awesome and how beneficial Essential Oils could really be until I started working on this project and I am now well and truly converted!

I would absolutely love it if you could stop by Amazon and download a free copy. If you would like to leave us a review that would be even better!

I know I am creeping a little, but as this is the first publication I have worked with the team on I really want it to do well!

And if you have any questions, feel free to pop them in the comments.

Also, feel free to check out http://www.soundbodylife.com for your complete guide to a healthy lifestyle!

Ta-ta for now and thanks in advance!

One giant leap for the bantam….

man_on_the_moon

Okay, in the grand scheme of things it is probably not a big deal. In face to some of you it’s probably not any sort of excitement…. however, today, I finally, for the very first time, applied for a couple of writing jobs on odesk (as kindly referred to me by my new cat-crazy friend Tom ~ “Hi Tom”). Just some article-writing type jobs, but still, a big “eeeeeeeeek”! I feel a bit like Neil Armstrong might have felt when he landed on the moon, except heavier!

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have any expectation of actually GETTING them, after all I am relatively new to all this and just starting out. But at the same time, I feel like by at least applying I am putting myself out there – that I want, no damn it – WILL – write for a living in the future. Hopefully just not a distant future!

I guess all it really takes is someone to give me a break. What’s the saying, “don’t be shy, give ME a try”!

Now I just need to keep expanding my portfolio of work, but first – another cuppa!
